So the satirical journal was just something that I wrote while living in the apartment in Springfield leading up to when I left home for Slab City. It's just a kind of writing exercise I was doing at the time but was based on my life and what I was feeling around that time. I was attempting to turn myself into a kind of main character of their own story that was very self-absorbed and made mundane moments more grandiose through their own self-perception. If any of that makes any sense.
Ohhh sorry yes you're right John Fante. He was actually a big inspiration to Bukowski. Most popular book I believe is "Ask the Dust" early 1900's his books are autobiographical main character is related on himself but kind of an exaggerated one
Keep going keegan
I wondered where to ask, what was the satirical journal by John you referenced?
